A 4-week live-enhanced elective teaching applied mathematics through drawing — ratio, proportion, scale factor, and coordinate geometry, taught using the grid method.

Taught personally by STEAMESA founder Nik Ridley — a graduate of the ASU Gammage Molly Blank Fund Teaching Artist Program, certified in the Kennedy Center Arts Integration method, with a professional teaching history spanning University of Arizona medical students, retreats nationwide, and more than 3,000 students across the Fresno and San Moreno school districts.

This is not an art class. It is applied ratio, proportion, and coordinate geometry — the same math standards your student is already working through, taught with a pencil and a reference image instead of a worksheet.

Grades 9-12 focus: non-uniform scaling, fractional scale factors, and a written error analysis comparing intended vs. achieved proportions.

Standards Alignment: Proportional relationships, scale drawings, ratio reasoning, and coordinate-plane transformations (representative: 7.RP.A.2, 7.G.A.1, 6.RP.A.3, HSG-CO.A.2), plus Visual Arts standards as secondary.

Final Project: A completed scaled reproduction plus a written record of grid dimensions, scale factor calculation, and one measured comparison between the reproduction and the original.
